Stamping Materials

A Comprehensive Range of Materials for Automotive Stamping

The choice of material is critical to the performance, weight, and cost of any automotive component. At Halladay Manufacturing, we have deep expertise in working with a vast array of metals and engineered plastics. Our strong relationships with material suppliers ensure we can source the ideal grade for your application, from standard steels to advanced, lightweight alloys. Our quality control process begins with rigorous inspection and verification of all incoming raw materials.

Ferrous Metals

The backbone of the automotive industry, ferrous metals offer strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness. We maintain a large inventory to ensure rapid turnaround times.

  • High-Strength Steel (HSS/AHSS): Essential for safety-critical components like A/B pillars, bumpers, and chassis frames. We work with various grades including Dual Phase (DP) and Transformation-Induced Plasticity (TRIP) steels to achieve optimal strength-to-weight ratios.
  • Stainless Steel: Chosen for its superior corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal. Commonly used in exhaust systems, fuel lines, and decorative trim. We handle multiple series including 304 and 409.
  • Cold/Hot Rolled Steel: A versatile and economical choice for a wide range of brackets, panels, and non-structural components.

Non-Ferrous Metals

Lightweight and specialized non-ferrous metals are key to improving fuel efficiency and performance, especially in electric vehicles (EVs).

  • Aluminum Alloys: A primary material for "lightweighting" initiatives. Used extensively for body panels (hoods, doors), battery enclosures, heat shields, and structural components. We are experienced with 5000 and 6000 series alloys.
  • Copper & Brass: Valued for their high electrical and thermal conductivity. We stamp terminals, connectors, busbars, and other components for vehicle electrical systems and battery packs.

Plastics & Composites

Beyond metals, we also have capabilities in stamping and forming engineered plastics and composites for applications where metal is not suitable, such as interior components, clips, insulators, and lightweight non-structural panels.
